George Harrison at The Royal Albert Hall April 1992

On this day in 1992 I went to the best concert I’ve ever attended. I still can’t quite believe how lucky I was to get the opportunity to see George Harrison play live. We got the train to London from Liverpool – shutting the Beatles Shop at lunchtime to travel. We left any fans in town a note on the door letting them know that tickets for a Ringo Starr concert in July had gone on sale at the Empire Theatre that day. I had discovered this by calling into the box office as I passed on my way to sell my entire collection of Doctor Who Target novels to fund my train fare that day.

The opening acts were Gary Moore and Joe Walsh, both legends in their own right.
I remember dissolving into tears at getting to hear Something. The whole setlist was a dream and just wonderful to hear. We left during the final song to jump in a cab to the station for the last train home to Liverpool and bumped into Olivia Harrison as we went. An epic day.
